(-4, -1) and (3, -3)

slope m = (-3 + 1) /(3 + 4) = -2/7

y - y1 = m(x - x1)
(x1, y1) as (-4, -1)

equation
y + 1 = -2/7(x +4)

Answer:

y-(-1)=-(2)/(7)(x-(-4))

Explanation:

We know that the line passes through (-4,-1) and (3,-3), where
(x_(1) ,y_(1) ) is
(-4,-1) and
(x_(2) ,y_(2) ) is
(3,-3).

First, we need to find the slope with the formula

m=(y_(2)-y_(1) )/(x_(2)-x_(1) )

Replacing given points

m=(-3-(-1))/(3-(-4))=(-3+1)/(3+4)=(-2)/(7)

Then, we use the slope, one point and the slope-point form

y-y_(1) =m(x-x_(1) )\\y-(-1)=-(2)/(7)(x-(-4))\\ y+1=-(2)/(7)x+(8)/(7) \\y=-(2)/(7)x+(8)/(7)-1\\y=-(2)/(7)x+(8-7)/(7) \\y=-(2)/(7)x+(1)/(7)

The slope-intercept form is

y=-(2)/(7)x+(1)/(7)

The point-slope form is

y-(-1)=-(2)/(7)(x-(-4))
