It is the fairest method of choosing the person that the majority of people believe is the best fit for the job. This way, the candidates are chosen based on their qualifications, without any biased opinions.

The Democratic method of election typically revolves around the people. So that way, anyone who had some "friends" higher up if you will, cannot rig their decision. It creates a way of election that is for the people, not the government or higher power.
