We want to find how many ¹/₃ can be made out of ³/₄

The mathematical sum is ³/₄ ÷ ¹/₃
The method for dividing fractions is to flip the second fraction then multiply the two fraction

³/₄ × ³/₁ = ⁹/₄ = 2 ¹/₄ cuts

The greatest number can be cut are 2 pieces with 0.25 meter left over
