Prohibition contributed to the growth of organized crime by making it easier for bootleggers to branch into other types of illegal activity.
Prohibition, as the name itself says, prohibited many things such as alcohol. This meant that people who wanted to drink it had to find illegal ways to obtain it. This is where bootleggers come into play as they could now illegally sell alcohol and other forbidden goods.
