assuming that the ^3 and ^2 are exponents,

Remember G.E.M.S.? (grouping > EXPONENT! > Multiplication/division > Subtraction/addition) 2*2*2=8*(2*2) = 8*4= 32

2 ^3 = 2 x 2 x 2
2 ^2 = 2 x 2

2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 2^5

2^5 = 32

hope this helps
