A few of the gathering's proposed changes were made into laws. By the 1890s, agrarian reformers refocused their energies and composed the new Populist or People's Party. The Party called upon the national government to cradle monetary melancholies, direct banks and companies, and help ranchers who were enduring tough circumstances.
