The Mohs scale is for natural minerals. For manufactured products other measures of hardness are better. ... There are ten minerals in Mohs scale, talc, gypsum, calcite, fluorite, apatite, orthoclase, quartz, topaz, corundum, and for last andhardest, diamond.

Rocks are made up of minerals. The hardest mineral is diamond. The softest mineral is talc, which is ground up to make talcum powder.
