f(x) = x^2 + 1
f(1) = 1^2 + 1 = 2
so 2f(1) = 2(2) = 4
g(x) = 3x + 1
f(4) = 3(4) + 1 = 13
3g(4) = 3(13) = 39
2f(1) + 3g(4) = 4 + 39 = 43
