-6.89 is greater. because -6.875 is shorted to -6.87 so 6.89 is -0.02 bigger.

-6.875 is greater because it is closer to zero (being positive). Think about it as the opposite way or positive numbers. If they were both positive, the answer would be 6.89, because they are greater than zero.
