Use the formula d =rt to find the distance d a long distance runner can run at a rate r of 9 1/2 miles per hour for time t of 1 3/4

I find these easier to calculate when everything is converted to a decimal
d=rt
d=(9.5mph x 1.75)
d = 16.625 ( approx. 16.6 miles)
