The correct answers are B) Ireland and D) Germany.

In the late nineteenth century, immigrants from Ireland and Germany were the largest groups to move to the United States.

For diverse motives, Irish and Germans were the largest groups that immigrated to the United States from 1820 to 1840. It is believed that in those years, 60,000 Irish entered through New York and the number increased to 800,000 in the 1840s due to problems in agriculture known as the Potatoe famine. In the case of the Germans, by 1848 many of them were escaping from their native land due to political persecution, religious beliefs but most importantly, for better living conditions for their families.
