This best fits because it gives the order of everything as it is happening. It uses transition words such as first, second, next, last. Since the event is a race, the reader will want to know how things are happening in terms of the timing. Order of importance would be perfect for a Christmas list or solutions to a problem. Spatial order would be great for describing a landscape or other place.
