The type of joint that allows flexion, lateral flexion, and rotation of the vertebral column is a synovial joint. Synovial joints refer to a joint wherein there is a space connecting the two bones called synovial cavity. Synovial joints does not only perform angular movements mentioned above but also do angular, gliding and do special movements.
