In 1927, Charles Lindbergh crossed the Atlantic ocean. He was the first American pilot to do that solo.
Charles mainly gained his popularity as a result of this solo transatlantic flight in 1927.

However, his popularity declined in the 1930s when he expressed his admiration and support for the Nazi Germans.
