There are several changes for former slaves during reconstruction era,

- Political: African American during reconstruction era now has the right to become Government officials and obtain the right to vote
- Social: They now able to use public infrastructure (even though it's still separated in the early years o this era)
- Economic: African Americans were now able to legally own their private property, which wouldn't be possible when they're still slaves.
