i believe the answer is (b.) Cancer cells cause an autoimmune response which results in a build-up of cell matter.
This makes the autoimmune system perceive the cells as something dangerous, but since cancerous cells often not identified by the autoimmune cells properly, it often attacks the good cells (or its own tissues) instead which cause the life-threatening situation.
