Endoplasmic reticulum is a membrane bound organelle located in eukaryotic cells that forms a continuous interconnected series of flattened tubes, sacs and vesicles known as cisternae. Endoplasmic reticulum performs various functions in the cell, particularly in the production, arrangement, modification, and transport of proteins. There are two types of endoplasmic reticulum which are; rough and smooth endoplasmic reticulum.
