A symbol is something verbal or nonverbal that stands for something else. Symbols take the form of shapes, letters and numbers to represent a particular idea. Symbols can also have multiple meanings, they can be either negative or good depending on the situation. For example, the swastika symbol in the Western world has been used to symbolize fascism, racism and hate, but in many Asian countries the swastika represented one's well being or good luck.
