Dreams reflect the waking concerns and preoccupations of the dreamer and the active processes of trying to make sense of stimuli produced by the brain during sleep. This is why they can be so random, and yet so worrying- for instance, dreaming that Benedict Cumberbatch lived in the next town over when he had said something offensive about a group you belong to.
