the length of a rectangle is as twice as great as it's width. when both the width and height are increased by 5 inches the new rectangle has a premetwe of 80 inches. WHAT are the original length and width

So your equation is 2w+2*5+4w+2*5=80 or 6w+20=80. Subtract 20 from both sides to get 6w=60 then divide by 6 to get w=10. Know that the length is equal to two w's, so the original length is 20 inches and the original width is 10 inches
