Russia is a democratic country where people people choose their presidents and their government during an election year. Every couple of years the president's term ends and a new one is chosen through general suffrage. After two consecutive terms, the president can no longer be elected so they do something else. According to the constitution they can however get elected again, just not for a third consecutive term but rather the third term has to come later after someone else has been a president. All citizens of age in Russia have voting rights regardless of gender or race or religion. It is a multi party system meaning that citizens can form their own parties and become candidates if they get the support of the people.
