Approximately 70 percent of all faculty are considered adjuncts. These are the professors and instructors who do not have the full "professor" title as yet, and are more likely to teach courses on an ad-hoc basis. Their schedules are much less stable and the number of courses they teach per study period (quarter, semester, year) are much more open to change based upon the institutition's needs.
