This is an example of linguistic relativism, or sometimes also called “Sapir–Whorf hypothesis", for the reason that the theory was developed by Edward Sapir and Benjamin Lee Whorf. It states the language any particular people speak cast an influence on the people’s process of knowing something. Inuit experience a lot of snow in their environment ultimately leading to the creation of many words for snow.
