Is american democracy working? is the constitutional system of checks and balances operating effectively in the united states?

Democracy is working somewhat. There are times in which the system of checks and balances becomes a bit muddied, but overall, the three branches of government do a good job of making sure each stays in their own lanes. There are very few times in which a branch takes a step outside its proscribed powers that they are not made to reconsider their mistakes and take a different tack to governance.
