Why did the European nations think they did not need to deal with the U.S. during the Articles of Confederation period? The country did not have much wealth, so they did not want to trade with it. The country was loosely organized, with little power to act as a sovereign nation. They were afraid of angering the British by dealing with America. The U.S. was so far away, separated by the Atlantic Ocean.
