The Pilgrims were psychologically geared up to bear and conquer any trouble that might come to them in the inconsiderate environment, as they believed those were temptations that God puts down on them. When faced with a illness and starvation during the first winter, they didn't anguish. The only seven people who didn't get sick took over all the work.
