9.77 to the nearest tenths

first, find the number that is in the tenths place....it is 7....now look at the number directly to the right of it....if that number is 5 or greater, u would round that 7 up to an 8...but if that number is 4 or below, ur 7 would stay the same.
So the number directly to the right of 7 is 7...and since it is greater then 5, u have to round the 7 in the tenths place up to 8.

solution is : 9.8

Answer: 9.8

Explanation:

The tenth is the first number afther the decimal point.

The rules for rounding are: If the number after (in this case the second number afther the decimal point)it is 5 or bigger, we round up (adding 1) if the number after it is less than 5, the we round down, and leave the number as it is:

The number that we have is 9.77

The first number afther the decimal place is a 7, and the number after it is aso a 7, so we need to round up to 8 ( 7 + 1 = 8)

Then the rounded number is

9.8
