add 2y on both sides
6y-7 = 5+4y
add 7 on both sides
6y-4y=12
2y=12
y=6

Add 2y to both sides.

6y - 7 = 5

Add 7 to both sides.

6y = 12

Divide both sides by 6

y = 2
