Answer:

There were several factors:

  1. The decade of frequent rain that didn't allow to grow crops before.
  2. The free land gave it to hard work people.
  3. Wheat demand in other nations. The called Wheat Belt.
  4. Farming technologies developed.

Also, Great Plains' enterprises were also formed by cattle ranching, which was an important part of their economy.
