How did the Land Act in 1820 help Westerners?

A person could purchase 80 acres of land for $100 cash.
A person could buy 80-160 acres of land for $100 down and have small payments.
Westerners were able to have loan forgiveness to purchase land.
A person could acquire a substantial amount of land on the promise he could pay off the land in one year.

A person can get a minumum 80 - 160 acres of land, and the minimum payment dropped from 320 to 100 dollars. The law required full payment at the time of purchase and registration however

hope this helps
