Cameras have given society the ability to instantly record and save images and events for posterity. This has given us the ability to show proof of events taking place without having to rely on secondhand accounts and eyewitness retellings. This makes for much more reputable accounts and discourse, instead of simply believing that something took place because a person said it had. Innovations in the camera have made it even more useful, giving us the ability to capture moving video and sound without having to increase the size of the unit, again making capture and dissemination of information even more beneficial to society.
