From the city of Cusco, the maximum expansion of the Inca Empire is achieved, in the year 1400 d.C. but the city would decline when the Spaniards arrived in 1533, who decided that they would move the capital to Lima, where colonial culture flourished, but ancient Cusco would remain important in the administration of the Viceroyalty of Peru, as it later came to be called the Peruvian region under the power of the Spanish Crown.
