Although I'm no pro at volleyball, I do know that the skills usually used when the ball drops under the head usually involve maneuvers (hence skills) called dives. Additionally another major one is the dig, which is a sort of emergency maneuver where you actually touch the ground in an attempt to keep the ball in play.
