Reduction in populations of insect pests is a benefit of crop rotation.
Crop
rotation
is an agricultural practice in which different crops are grown in different seasons on the sample piece of land in order to avoid the depletion of a single type of nutrient from the soil.
This practice is beneficial in
reducing
the pests
in the field because if only one kind of crop is grown then the pest that feeds on it will grow in number, however, due to crop rotation, the crop that is grown is chosen in such a way that same pest does not feed on it.
For example, if cotton and legumes are grown in rotation, then the pest of cotton cannot feed on legumes and hence it will not build in the field.
