H+ and OH- ions. Water is a polar inorganic compound. It is tasteless, and odourless sovent. It is chemically H2O. When ionisation takes place water breaks into positively charged hydrogen ions and negatively charged OH ions. This nature makes water amphoteric, both acidic and basic.
