Why did emigrants bypass the great plains and travel all the way to the far west.

It was during the Westward Expansion. They did that bcuz the emigrants thought it was a nice flat land for them to build there houses and live there. They also thought it manifest destiny which means they can do what ever they want. There was also the economic system (which is used to trade goods).
