B. He Forged the First Empire. Chandragupta Maurya was a member of the Kshatriya caste, or part of the warrior-ruler class. When Alexander the Great conquered large parts of India, Chandragupta Maurya was taken prisoner. After Alexander's death, Chandragupta Muarya forged the fist Maurya dynasty which turned the former collection of Indians states into a vast empire.
