Clinicians who view psychological abnormality as a problem in living refer to those who receive therapy as current patients going through treatment. If the clinician sees a problem with a peer and they receive therapy, that would be a patient to the clinician, with the patient getting some sort of help, or treatment, to solve the problem that is at hand.
