The area between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in Mesopotamia were grassy and would have lent themselves to the beginnings of farming. This is where remains of the oldest settled communities were discovered, in the modern area around Iraq, Kuwait, eastern Syria, and southeastern Turkey.
