What prevents protozoans from bursting when placed in a hypotonic environment?

Protozoa have a very rigid cell wall. This allows the cell to swell like all other organisms when placed in hypotonic environs, but the rigidity allows the cell to only reach a certain level before it will stop allowing water inside.
