The treatment group. They are the group for which the independent variable is manipulated unlike the control group who are kept under the same conditions without manipulation. An example is a drug trial, two groups of people might be given a virus then one group would be given a drug to treat the virus and the other group given a fake drug which does not have any medicine in to see the effect of the medicine.
