If the citric acid cycle was interrupted after the reaction that forms citrate, predict how this would affect the total amount of atp generated per glucose molecule

The amount of ATP produced would go from 38 ATP down to 14 ATP per glucose molecule. This answer is true because up to the conversion from Acetyl-CoA to Citrate, the cell has produced 14 ATP molecules. 8 gross ATP and 2 Pyruvic acid molecules are produced during Glycolysis. The Pyruvic acid to acetyl CoA conversion nets another 3 ATP. Since there are two Pyruvic acid molecules, that is a total of 6 ATP. Combining glycolysis (8 ATP) and the first reaction in the citric acid cycle (6 ATP), that is a total of 14 ATP produced.
