Quotient is basically the answer you get when you divide two numbers. For example, the quotient of 6 and 3 is 2 since, when I divide 6 by 3 I get 2.

Thus,

Quotient of b and a number x =
(b)/(x)

9 less than quotient of b and a number x =
(b)/(x) - 9
