SA = 2(wl + hl + hw)
SA = 208
h = 8
l = 6

208 = 2(6w + (8*6) + 8w)
208 = 2(14w + 48)
208 = 28w + 96
208 - 96 = 28w
112 = 28w
112/28 = w
4 = w <==== the width is 4 cm

Answer:

Width = 4 cm.

Explanation:

Given : surface area is 208 square centimeters? The height is 8cm and the length is 6cm.

To find : Find the width of the rectangular prism.

Solution : We have given

Surface area of rectangular prism = 208 square cm.

Height = 8 cm .

Length = 6 cm

Width = W

Surface area of rectangular prism = 2 ( length * width + width * height + length* height).

Plugging all the values,

208 = 2 ( 6 * W + W * 8 + 6 * 8).

208 = 2 ( 6W + 8W + 48).

208 = 2 ( 14W + 48).

On dividing both sides by 2

104 = 14 W + 48.

On subtracting both sides by 48

104 - 48 = 14 W.

56 = 14 W.

On dividing both sides byy 14

W = 4 cm

Therefore, Width = 4 cm.
