The discovery of the link between general paresis and syphilis was made by: Austro–German psychiatrist, Richard von Krafft-Ebing. He made popular the phrase “civilization and syphilization” at the Moscow International Congress of 1897. He demonstrated this link prior to the serological test that is used today.
