Ahhh I love these. Since I'm in calc BC as a high school freshman, it's been a while since I've done these. Begin by adding 4 to both sides to turn 45(2x+5)-4=1 into 45(2x+5)=5. Next divide both sides by 45 to get 2x+5=1/9.
Finally, to isolate the x, subtract 5 from both sides to get 2x=-4 8/9. Finally, divide both sides by 2 to get x=-2 4/9

Multiply it out first.
90x+225-4=1

Combine like terms.
90x+221=1

Start isolating variable.
90x=-220
x=-220/90=-22/9

The answer is x=-22/9.

Hope this helps!
