Slave revolts were a huge issue in the southern states, which the slave population being almost double that of the white population slave owners needed to take extra measures to prevent such things from happening, some measures included increasing Militia patrols and making laws stricter. Slaves that were thought to be planning a rebellion were arrested and tried and whipped and hanged as an example.
