Alright! absolute value is basically how far a number on a number line is from zero!
If you are on a number line -2 (for example) is 2 units away from zero and positive 2 is also 2 units away from zero. Plotting this on a number line might help you vision it better.

This is written as
|-2|=2 "The absolute value of negative 2 is equal to 2"
|2|=2 "The absolute value of 2 in equal to 2"

Within an absolute value equation you can add, subtract or multiply where you will have to solve. Here are some example:

|7+6|=x
|13|=x
x=14

|7-6|=x
|1|=x
x=1

|7*6|=x
|42|=x
x=42

~I hope this helps!~
