While reasearching a history paper, you see a graph that shows federal spending on defense in past 200 years. You notice that federal spending throughout the late 1900s shows much more spending on defense than in previous decades. What development most likely causedd this sustained increase in us peacetime defense spending

I believe it would be because of the change of technology. Around that time, a lot more things were coming out, and the shows started becoming longer and spoke about things that were normally kept really quiet.
