A picture frame has a perimeter of 100 cm. Its width is 4 cm less than twice its length. What is the width of the picture frame?

P = 2(L + W)
P = 100
W = 2L - 4

100 = 2(L + 2L - 4)
100 = 2(3L - 4)
100 = 6L - 8
100 + 8 = 6L
108 = 6L
108/6 = L
18 = L ....length is 18 cm

W = 2L - 4
W = 2(18) - 4
W = 36 - 4
W = 32 <== width is 32 cm
